atAmericanschools.Sportseventsarepopular,andcheerleadersleadtheschoolinsupportingtheschoolteam
andsingingtheschoolsong.Attheendoftheirjunioryear,atage17or18,studentsheldintheevening.Thegirls
wearlongeveningdressesandtheboyswearTUXEDOS.
InBritain,therearenoformaldancesorsocialoccasions(场合)associated(和...有关)withschoollife.SomeschoolshaveSPEECHDAYattheendoftheschoolyearwhenprizesaregiventothebest
studentsandspeechesaremadebytheheadteacherandsometimesaninvitedguest.However,inmanyBritish
schoolsstudentsandteachersorganize(组织)informaldancesfortheolderstudents.
